Due to the severe weather predicted for this afternoon, (12/13/17) all after school activities will be cancelled in the Dearborn Public Schools. This includes athletics, childcare programs, adult and community education, building permits, and other events specific to individual schools.
All schools will remain open today and close at their regular time. Parents have the option to pick up their child early. Any student who is picked up by their parent or legal guardian will be given an excused absence. High school students will only be allowed to leave early if a parent or legal guardian contacts the school.
Normal bus routes will operate but may run late. All extracurricular busses for activities will be cancelled.
For your reference, here is additional information from the Superintendent:
#students1stDbnSchs Procedural reminder on school cancellation and potential snow days.
There is a web page on dedicated to what goes into a decision regarding potential school cancellations. Here is a link to a page on my blog with resource and information regarding this topic. Click Here.
Just a reminder that parents always have the ability to make an individual decision in the best interest of their child(ren) regardless of a decision to close the entire district with 21,000 students and over 2700 staff members.
